In the last few previous days, the former Bengal education minister, Partha Chatterjee, and Arpita Mukherjee were arrested in the case of money laundering with other charges. After this, on Wednesday, the CBI made its first arrest in the school-level recruitment scam and took SP Sinha into custody.
The CBI did not directly arrest him as they took four rounds of interrogation in which he evaded the questions and did not cooperate with the investigation. The state government created an advisory committee of five members, but an autonomous body is making the appointments to the school-level posts. The school-level posts include Group C, D, and secondary-level teaching staff. There are a few charges put on the duo for criminal conspiracy and corruption in making appointments.
Delhi got an advisory from the Central government, and 6 cases were found in Delhi.
Earlier, the judicial committee indicted the members of the state committee formed by the Calcutta high court for making appointments. At that time, Partha Chatterjee was the education minister, but it has been revealed that about 381 of the 222 candidates who were selected did not even appear in any kind of examination.
