According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal will have a sports university.

According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her administration would soon establish a sports university in the city.

Declaring her love for the game of football, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday offered a donation of Rs. 50 lakh for East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting, two century-old clubs, to improve their infrastructure. Banerjee announced that her administration would soon establish a sports university in the city after officially opening the East Bengal museum, the Raja Suresh Chandra Memorial Archive, at its Maidan tent.

The TMC’s campaign anthem for the 2021 Assembly elections was “Khela hobe” (game will be played). “I enjoy playing football, which I do occasionally. And for that reason, I came up with the catchphrase “Khela Hobe.” You should know that I even juggle a football.

Banerjee promised that her administration would support the sporting ambitions of the state’s athletes. “We plan to construct a specialised institution for sports to remove the requirement that the younger generations who are interested in sports attend any other university. We will always try to encourage each and every dream of our athletes, I can guarantee you of that “she said.
